I finally built a rain barrel system after our last water bill hit $200

Last month in Phoenix I watched my grass turn brown while sprinklers ran nonstop, so I set up three 55-gallon drums off my downspouts. Anyone else tried using collected rainwater for their vegetable garden yet?

Are you filtering the water for the garden or just using it straight from the barrel?

Wait, you're telling me @kevin_hernandez83 that people actually FILTER this stuff? I just let it run straight from the barrel onto my tomatoes. Had no idea that was even a thing. We get so much dust and bird crap on the roof here that now I'm worried what's actually in that water. Might need to look into a basic filter screen or something.

$200 water bill? I'd probably just let my tomatoes drink from the gutter too.
