I spent $85 on a professional grade chain tool and it was a mistake

I thought I was being smart buying a Park Tool CT-5 chain tool for $85 since I do all my own bike maintenance. But honestly, my old $15 generic tool does the same job just fine. The Park Tool pin broke on my third chain and now I wish I had just stuck with the cheap one. Has anyone else found that expensive bike tools aren't always worth the money?

Maybe the more expensive tool just needed a little break-in period before it actually worked right lol.

Wait, did you check if the pin was actually installed right or if the tool was just dirty? Most broken pins happen because people don't clean and lube the tool before using it on a new chain. I've seen expensive tools fail just like cheap ones when you skip basic maintenance.
