Heard a neighbor say their deck stain peeled in 6 months

I was grilling last Saturday and my neighbor Bob came over complaining about the $80 Behr stain he put on his deck in May. He said it already looks like crap and he followed the directions to the letter. Anyone had good luck with a specific brand or prep method for cedar decking in humid climates?

Ate my lunch break reading this and I totally get it. I used the exact same brand on my cedar deck last spring and it's peeling in patches right now, like a bad sunburn. I did all the prep too, cleaned it, let it dry for days, put on two coats, and still it flakes off every time I hose it down. What's the point of paying $80 if it can't even last through one season? I swear they just put the good stuff in the sprayer at the factory and sell us the watered down version at the store. Makes you wonder if any brand actually works on cedar in this humidity.
