My attempt to paint kitchen cabinets without sanding was a disaster
I tried that no sand paint bonding primer on my oak cabinets last weekend. Seemed great at first but after 3 days the paint started peeling off in big sheets right where the handles were. Turns out those glossy cabinet doors really need roughing up even if the can says otherwise. Anyone else get fooled by that no prep claim on cabinet paint?

Peeling off in big sheets" is basically the story of my life, I'm pretty sure my last attempt at being handy ended up as a modern art sculpture of failure in my kitchen.

Three different attempts is my personal record before I had to call someone to fix what I tried to fix. My kitchen cabinets still have this weird patch where the paint is three different shades because I couldn't match the color after stripping it. The worst part is when you think you're making progress and then realize you just made a bigger mess that costs more to fix later. I've learned the hard way that sometimes the most expensive tool you can buy is the one you use to "save money" by doing it yourself. That sculpture you made sounds about right, at least you can laugh about it now.
