Shoutout to the lady at Starbucks who judged my shopping cart

I was grabbing coffee last Tuesday before heading to the grocery store, and this lady in line behind me looked at my cart through the window. She had a pumpkin loaf in one hand and she just goes "You know that frozen pizza is going to taste like cardboard, right?" I didn't even know her, but she felt the need to comment on my dinner plans. I told her I had a long shift and didn't feel like cooking, and she rolled her eyes like I'd failed at life. I stood there holding my iced coffee thinking why do strangers think they can just weigh in on how you live? It's been stuck in my head for a week because it wasn't a big deal but it also kind of was. Has anyone else had a random person judge something small like that and it just lingers?

Three weeks ago I was at Target buying a frozen lasagna and this guy in the deli section goes "You know you can make that from scratch in like twenty minutes?" And I just stood there holding my sad little tray of pasta, tired from work, thinking "Yeah but I’m not gonna." It’s the weirdest thing how someone’s throwaway comment can stick in your head like a bad song (I still think about that guy’s smug face whenever I heat up a frozen dinner). My theory is that people project their own guilt about convenience foods onto you, like if they judge you for buying the pizza then somehow their own homemade soup is more righteous. Honestly my frozen pizza game is strong and I will die on that cardboard hill.
