TIL drywall scraps can get recycled into new board (pretty neat for keeping sites green),

Wonder how much actually gets recycled though. Sites might separate it, but then the haulers could just dump everything together at the transfer station. Heard sometimes the paper backing causes issues, or it gets too dirty from other waste. Is there a way to tell if a company is truly closing the loop, or just claiming they are?

Worry about this all the time, honestly. It feels like the whole green movement is just layers of trust we can't check. You're right, @the_jennifer, the haulers could mess it up after the site does their part. I see this with everything now, where a company makes a big claim but gives you zero way to see the proof. They want the good press without letting anyone follow the trash truck. Tbh, without someone watching each step, it's way too easy to just toss it all and call it recycled.

That actually happens? After all that work sorting, the haulers just mix it again? Crazy how @the_jennifer nailed that part.
