Vertical monitor for coding felt like a gimmick til I tried it

I always laughed at people with a monitor turned sideways for code, figured it was just for show... Then I finally gave it a shot last month with a $30 used Dell from Craigslist. Now I can see 80 lines of code without scrolling on one screen while docs run on my main display. Anyone else find a setup they were totally wrong about?

Man I had the exact same reaction. I thought it was just some weird flex for people who wanted to look like they were in a hacker movie. Then my buddy gave me his old monitor after he upgraded and I figured why not try it. Now I can't go back. For me the game changer was having a tall window for logs on one side while I work on the main code on the other. I used to hate scrolling through 500 lines of error messages trying to find one thing. Now I just leave it open like a column and it changed everything.

That's exactly what got me too, @price.tyler. Having that vertical space for logs or terminal output just makes everything feel less cramped. I actually started using mine for a terminal on the bottom half and a browser preview on the top, so I can see the result change live while I tweak css. It's one of those things where you don't realize how much you needed it until you have it, then going back to a normal monitor feels like working with one hand tied behind your back.
