Found out elevator rope inspection intervals vary by state more than I thought

I was looking at ASME codes last week and noticed some states require rope inspections every 6 months while others go up to 12. Anyone else run into this difference when working across state lines?

Close, but Ohio actually follows the 12 month schedule for most passenger elevators unless they fall under specific city codes like Columbus or Cleveland. @miles54 probably got mixed up with a local city ordinance that can override the state rule there. Always worth double checking the actual jurisdiction before planning those rope swaps.

Man it's wild how much it changes state to state. I was looking into this for a friend's building in Ohio and they said 6 months while my guy in PA was on a yearly schedule. Totally threw me off, felt like I was reading two different codes.
