Actually, that's not quite how it works for most people anymore lol. Almost everything is on autopay or digital now, so you don't really "miss" a single check. The scary part is when the whole automatic system fails and you don't notice for a month. Way easier for a small problem to snowball now.

My buddy Jake had his rent autopay fail last year. The bank had a weird glitch and it just didn't go through. He didn't check his account for three weeks because he trusted the system. He got an eviction notice before he even knew the money was still sitting in his account. Took him two months to sort it out with his landlord.
