Pro tip: I was trimming a draft horse's hoof in Spokane last Tuesday and the rasp handle snapped clean off mid-stroke.

I had to finish the job with a pair of vise grips clamped onto the tang, which worked okay but what's a better brand for a durable handle that won't fail under pressure?

Snapped clean off mid-stroke, that's rough. My cousin welded his own handle after a similar thing happened with a fence tool.

Is a broken handle really that big of a deal? It's just a tool, not a major life event. Seems like an easy fix.

Man, that sounds like a pain. Did it scare the horse when it broke?
