Had a total disaster with a silk dye job for a client's dress last Tuesday...
I was working on a custom evening gown in my studio, trying to match this specific plum color from a swatch. The dye bath looked perfect, but when I pulled the silk out after 45 minutes, it had these awful, splotchy light patches... like it didn't take the color evenly at all. My client is expecting the final fitting this Friday, and now I'm staring at $200 worth of ruined fabric. Has anyone else had silk just refuse to take dye properly, and how did you fix it in a rush?

I mean, I used to think that too, but a second bath can sometimes set the splotches. Maybe try a color remover first?

Honestly sounds like you might be overreacting to a fixable problem. Silk can be tricky but splotches happen all the time. Try a second dye bath with a stronger mix, it often evens right out. Ruined is a strong word for fabric that just needs another dip.
