Honestly, I tried doing lunges to warm up for digging and ended up face-planting in the mud.

Used to skip warm-ups entirely and thought people were just being extra. Then I pulled something in my back just bending over to pick up a bag of mulch. Now I see a failed lunge in the mud as a sign you were actually trying to do it right. Sometimes the warm-up needs its own warm-up, especially if you're going straight from the couch to yard work.

Couch to yard work needs a terrain warm-up too.

That bag of mulch moment is so real. Honestly I pulled something in my shoulder last year just reaching for a coffee cup after being still for hours. Hayden_knight36 is onto something with the terrain warm-up, because even walking on uneven ground uses muscles you forget about. Tbh I've started doing like two minutes of arm circles and toe touches before I even put my boots on now. It feels silly but it beats that sharp pain when you move wrong.
