My kitchen faucet had a slow drip that turned into a weekend project

Turns out the cartridge was corroded and I had to make three trips to the hardware store. What's your go-to trick for dealing with old, stuck plumbing parts?

Ugh, the three-trip hardware store journey is the real story here. I swear that's a universal law of home repair. For old parts, I've had good luck with a mix of penetrating oil and a little heat from a hairdryer, not a torch, because I don't trust myself with that. Let it soak for a while, then try to work the part back and forth slowly instead of just cranking on it. It's a test of patience for sure.

Right, the "test of patience" part is so true. It feels like half of fixing stuff is just learning to wait for the oil to work or the glue to dry. I see it everywhere now, like letting your coffee cool down a bit so you don't burn your tongue.
