Found a weird old tape at a garage sale last weekend
Paid $5 for a box of VHS tapes. One was labeled 'Camping Trip 1999' but it was actually some guy filming his buddy pretending to get attacked by a bear in the woods. The acting was so bad I laughed for 10 minutes straight. Has anyone else stumbled on someone's fake horror home movie?

The 'Camping Trip 1999' tape got me thinking. The guy filming might have actually been making a proof of concept for a found footage horror movie. A lot of those early digital horror films started as home movies. Blair Witch was just a few years before that. His buddy's bad bear acting doesn't mean it was a prank on the audience. Maybe it was a failed audition reel for a bigger project that never happened. That makes it even funnier in a sad way.
