Vent: I was sure a cheap $80 knock-off pouring shank would be fine for our small runs.
It cracked on the third pour, ruining a whole batch of aluminum handles. What pouring gear do you guys trust for frequent, smaller jobs?

Small runs" can still put a ton of heat stress on cheap gear. I learned the hard way too, it's worth getting a decent shank from a known brand even for occasional use.

Agree with @leet32, grab a name brand shank and save yourself the headache later.

leet32 is right, cheap stuff just cooks itself. Grabbed a decent brand on sale and it's still going strong years later.
