Am I the only one who thinks the whole 'raise your rates every year' advice is overhyped?

I kept my freelance web design rates at $75 an hour for 3 years straight while everyone else was jumping to $100+. My client retention went way up because they knew I wasn't gonna nickel and dime them. I landed a 18-month contract with a local vet clinic in Austin last June just by being consistent. Has anyone else seen better results from staying steady instead of hiking prices every 12 months?

Keeps things simple and predictable, just like how I only go to the same three taco trucks because I know their prices won't jump on me.

Have you tried setting a hard rule for yourself, like checking prices on the same day every week? I do that with my local grocery store because they change their specials on Wednesdays. Once you know the pattern, it takes the guesswork out and you can plan meals or purchases around it. What day do most of your favorite taco trucks post their menus?
