Shoutout to my niece's crayon drawing that changed how I look at art
My niece stuck a drawing of a purple dog with three legs on my fridge last week. At first I thought it was cute but nothing special. Then I looked closer and noticed she drew the dog jumping over a rainbow with a speech bubble that said 'I'm fine.' I asked her about it and she said the dog lost a leg in a treehouse accident. I found out kids don't care about making things look real, they just show you how they feel. That purple dog has been up for 5 days now and I can't stop smiling when I walk past it. Has anyone else had a kid's drawing hit you way harder than you expected?

Isn't that the whole deal with art anyway? Connecting to something bigger than the details.

Yeah, that really hits the nail on the head for me too.
