I used to be so scared of using a card scraper on a finished piece
For years, I'd only use sandpaper to level a finish, which took forever and left a lot of dust. After watching a guy at a workshop in Austin use a properly sharpened scraper to clean up a lacquer run in about 30 seconds, I finally tried it myself. What's your go-to method for fixing small finish flaws without sanding through?

Know that feeling. Took me forever to try it too.

What's your sharpening method for the scraper? I tried the burnisher thing but could never get a good hook.

The burnisher is tricky until you figure out the right pressure. I like to start with a fresh mill file to get the edge dead square, then hit it with a medium Arkansas stone to clean up any burr. For the hook itself @terry_martinez, I don't go at it with a lot of force like people say, just a light roll with the burnisher held at a steep angle, maybe 85 degrees. You'll feel it catch when it's right, otherwise you're just polishing the edge flat again.
