I keep seeing people trash the battery life on the Pixel 8 Pro without checking their settings

In my experience, a lot of reviews say it barely lasts a day, but I got mine in November and it easily goes 30 hours. The big thing is that the default screen brightness is set way too high and the 'Adaptive Battery' feature takes about a week to learn your habits. I turned the brightness down to about 60% and after that learning period, it's been solid. Has anyone else found a specific setting that made a huge difference for their phone?

Turning the brightness down is a good tip, but that adaptive battery learning period is closer to two weeks in my experience. The always-on display can be a real drain too if you don't need it. I turned that off and picked up another few hours easily.

I have to disagree with you a bit on that adaptive battery timeline. In my experience with the Pixel 8 Pro, it settled down after about four or five days, not two weeks. But I did turn off the always-on display right away like you mentioned, and that made a bigger difference than I expected. @bettykim also raised a good point about the Now Playing feature. I actually like having it on for new music discovery, but I can see how it would be a hidden drain if you're not paying attention. For anyone trying to stretch battery life, it might be worth checking that setting first before dimming the screen too much.

Wait, you guys are getting 30 hours? My Pixel 8 Pro is fine for a full day but I did have one weird drain. I noticed the "Now Playing" feature that IDs songs in the background was always running, even at home, and turning that off seemed to help more than I expected. It's kind of a neat feature but not worth the hit if you're trying to stretch things out.
