People keep calling a 144Hz monitor a 'game changer' for office work

I see this in a lot of reviews, saying a high refresh rate makes scrolling feel smoother for emails and documents. I bought a 144Hz screen for my home office setup in Phoenix, and after using it for 6 months, I can barely tell the difference outside of gaming. It feels like a waste of money if you're not playing fast-paced shooters. Am I the only one who thinks this is overhyped for regular computer use?

Totally agree with you, it's massively overhyped for office stuff! I think a lot of people just repeat what they hear from gamers without actually using one for work themselves. My old 60Hz monitor feels perfectly fine for spreadsheets and writing emails. The whole "game changer" talk just feels like marketing to sell more expensive screens to people who don't need them.

Yeah @hugo_cooper, I get what you're saying. But have you actually tried using a high refresh rate monitor for a full day of work, like scrolling through long web pages or moving windows around? I mean, it's not life-changing, but it does feel a lot smoother once you're used to it. Maybe it's just me but going back to 60Hz feels kinda choppy now.

But is it really that big a deal?
