My last job's final bill came out to exactly $10,000 and it felt weird

I was doing a bathroom remodel for a couple in Springfield, just a standard tub-to-shower swap with new tile. When I added up the materials, labor, and the little extras, the total landed right on ten grand, not a dollar more or less. Has anyone else ever hit a round number like that and it just seemed too perfect?

Spent $40 on a magnetic screw tray and it's a total game changer

I was always losing tiny motherboard screws in the carpet (you know how it goes). This thing holds everything in place, even the M.2 standoffs. What's your best trick for keeping track of all the little bits during a teardown?

A customer in Austin swore by using cat5 for everything, even power. I called him nuts.

He insisted on running cat5 for his 12v power to a new siren, saying it was cheaper and just as good. I told him the gauge was too thin and he'd get voltage drop over the 80 foot run. He pushed back hard, so I did it his way to avoid an argument. Sure enough, the siren sounded weak and the transformer ran hot. I had to go back a week later and replace it all with proper 18/2. Has anyone else had a client fight you on a basic power wiring spec like that?

Honestly I just had the most bizarre deja vu loop at my local grocery store

Tbh I was just grabbing milk and eggs yesterday at the Food Mart on Elm. I walked down the cereal aisle and saw this guy in a bright red hat looking at the oatmeal. I turned the corner, and a minute later I swear I saw the exact same guy, same red hat, looking at the oatmeal again from the other end of the aisle. Ngl, it freaked me out a little. I went back to check and he was gone, like he just vanished. The whole thing felt off, like a scene resetting in a video game. Has anyone else had a repeat person show up like that in a place they shouldn't be?

PSA: I let go of my old drafting table for a computer

I stuck with paper and pencil for a long time, thinking it was better. A job with a short timeline pushed me to try CAD, and I see the benefit now. Changing drawings is way faster.

Heads up: Our town hall just passed a new rule for storefront glass.

I was at the town meeting last night and they voted on stricter rules for commercial storefront glass. Now any new installs need laminated glass on the bottom three feet, which is going to change how we quote jobs. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of change and have tips on sourcing affordable laminated sheets?
