TIL my old phone's battery was probably fine, I just had a bad charger

Last month my phone was dying by noon, so I bought a new one. Found the old one in a drawer this week, plugged it into a different charger, and it held a charge for a full day. Has anyone else had a gadget problem that turned out to be a simple accessory issue?

My laptop kept disconnecting from the wifi and I almost bought a new router. Turns out I was just sitting on the cord for the cheap USB adapter (which I had totally forgotten was even plugged in). Felt like a real tech genius that day.

Actually, that USB adapter is probably the real problem here. Those cheap dongles are famous for having bad connections and dropping signal all the time. You should have bought the new router anyway, because your main wifi is likely weak or outdated too. Sitting on the cord was just a lucky accident that pointed out a bigger issue. A solid router would make that flaky adapter pointless and give you a better connection on all your devices. You solved a short term problem but missed the chance for a real fix.

wait wait wait you sat on it the whole time? casey that's wild i can't believe you didn't notice that cord was there for like days probably. but honestly @henry_webb68 brings up a good point cause if you were using a cheap adapter to begin with your laptop's built in wifi might not be great anyway. still though that's such a classic moment where you think the whole universe is broken but it's just a dumb little thing you did to yourself. i've done similar stuff before not with wifi but with other cables and it's always so funny after you figure it out.
