Why does nobody talk about earbuds failing after a year?

Some say it's due to cheap parts, while others think it's how they're handled, but what's your experience?

The "cheap parts" thing is spot on. My buddy had these expensive earbuds that just stopped holding a charge after like 14 months. He was super careful with them, never dropped them or anything. The battery just gave out completely and the company said it was normal wear and tear. It felt totally planned, like they're built to fail right after the warranty ends. He was so mad he switched to a cheaper brand out of spite.
