Why I now love my e-reader after a month of sync issues

The hassle taught me to value offline reading.

My buddy at the book club said his Kobo lost a whole week of reading notes last month. He was pretty mad about it. But then he said it made him start keeping a little paper notebook for his thoughts again. Kind of funny how a tech problem can push you back to the old ways. I get what you mean about focusing better offline.

Back up your Kobo notes manually every Friday. I learned that the hard way after losing my highlights for a whole Stephen King novel. Just plug it into your computer and drag the note files to a folder. It takes two minutes. That paper notebook is a good backup plan too, but doing both saves the digital notes you already made. Tech should work FOR you, not make more work.

I read a Wired article that mentioned 30% of e-reader users report sync glitches. It made me laugh because my old Kindle used to lose my place all the time. Now I just download a bunch of books before a trip and don't worry about Wi-Fi. That forced offline mode actually lets me focus better without notifications popping up. So your month of hassle sounds familiar, but hey, at least you found the silver lining.
