Serious question, has anyone else tried using a pegboard for heavy power tools?
I put my 12-pound drill press up on a standard pegboard in my Atlanta garage last month, and the whole thing ripped right out of the wall after a week. I learned that weight ratings on the packaging are a best-case scenario, not a guarantee. What's a better wall storage method for items over 10 pounds?

My cousin's pegboard disaster involved a bowling ball (don't ask).

Honestly, I gotta push back a little here. I've had a heavy bench grinder on a standard pegboard for like two years now and it's totally fine. Maybe your drywall anchors were just cheap or you hit a bad spot in the wall. @nathan289's bowling ball story is hilarious but that's a different kind of load, right?

Yeah, pegboard is basically just for hand tools. For anything heavy like that drill press, you need to go straight into the studs. I use french cleats for my bigger stuff, they lock right in and hold a ton of weight. You can make them yourself with some plywood strips cut at a 45. What kind of wall are you working with, drywall or something else?
