Serious question about faster annealing for jewelry glass
I had a win with quicker annealing on my latest pendant batch. Some say slow cooling is key, but my sped-up cycle gave me solid pieces. Do you adjust anneal times for small work or always follow the book?

Yeah, speeding things up can work sometimes. I once rushed a kiln fuse on some test tiles and they came out solid, which kinda made me ignore the manual for a while.

Yeah that "lucky once" thing is so real. I got away with fast bisque firings a few times on smaller mugs, so I kept doing it. Then a whole load of taller vases slumped because the heat wasn't even, which totally proved the manual right.

Isn't that kinda risky to do all the time though? I mean, speeding up a kiln fuse might work on small test tiles, but I've seen whole pots crack from thermal shock when someone rushed the heating. My studio mate once tried a fast cycle on a large bowl and it came out with hidden stress fractures that showed up later. It's easy to get lucky once, but consistency goes out the window. Maybe it's just me, but manuals are written for a reason, to avoid wasting clay and all that work.
