So I tried a coarser grind on my French press on a whim
The coffee came out way smoother than before. No more bitter aftertaste, just a clean finish. I'm sticking with this from now on.

Why do we always assume finer is better with a french press? A coarse grind takes longer to extract, so it doesn't pull out those harsh, bitter oils as fast. I made the switch last month and it was like drinking a totally different drink. The clarity is just night and day.

Always thought you needed a fine grind too? I was totally wrong, this coarse method is way better.
