Found a trashed snake plant in my building's dumpster area

I grabbed it because it still had some green in the leaves and I couldn't just leave it. My friend says I basically took something that wasn't mine, even if it was thrown out. I think if someone throws a living thing away, the rescue rules change. Where do you all stand on saving discarded plants?

Wait, your friend said you took something that wasn't yours? That's wild. Once something hits the dumpster, it's abandoned, especially a living plant. I've picked up half-dead mums from the curb and nursed them back. Tossing out a snake plant with green leaves is just plain wrong.

Calling it 'just plain wrong' to toss a living plant points to a bigger problem. We just accept throwing away things that still have value.

Dumpster stuff isn't always free for the taking.
