The tip about putting rubber bands around paint cans is a lie
I spent an hour last weekend trying to wipe paint drips off my garage floor because I believed the hack about stretching a rubber band across the can rim to catch drips. Turns out the band just slides off when you pour, and the paint pools underneath instead. Has anyone else found a trick that actually keeps the rim clean?

My buddy Dave tried that rubber band thing last month and ended up with paint all down his leg when the band snapped mid pour lol. He said the only thing that actually works is poking two small holes on opposite sides of the rim channel with a nail so the paint drains back into the can instead of pooling. I tried that myself on a gallon of Behr and it worked pretty well, just gotta make sure the holes are tiny or youll get drips anyway. Another trick he swears by is laying a piece of wax paper over the rim before you put the lid on, then peeling it off when you open it again. He's been painting houses for like 15 years so I trust him more than the random internet hacks.
