Just realized my favorite chip-dip combo has more sugar than a candy bar
I was sitting there last night eating Cool Ranch Doritos with this caramel onion dip I found at a gas station in Ohio. Out of curiosity I flipped the dip container over and nearly dropped it. One serving has 16 grams of sugar. That's more than a Snickers bar has. I looked it up on my phone and yeah a standard Snickers is like 12 grams. The whole time I thought I was being savory but really I was just eating dessert in disguise. Has anyone else been tricked by a dip like this before?

Man look I learned this the hard way with that "caramelized onion" dip some brands make. Check the ingredients list on anything that sounds sweet like honey mustard or chutney based dips. Stick to plain sour cream based dips or make your own real quick with Greek yogurt and some seasoning.

Yeah that "caramelized onion" stuff is basically sugar with some onion powder.
