Why does nobody talk about using leftover pickle juice to marinate cheap chicken?

Last week my neighbor laughed at me for dumping a half-empty jar of pickle brine on some sad looking drumsticks, but after 30 minutes on the grill they came out way better than any store-bought marinade I've ever wasted money on, so am I the only one who's been sleeping on this trick?

3 bucks and a half used jar of dill pickles turned my usual rubbery chicken breasts into something I'd actually pay restaurant money for. My wife caught me licking the leftover brine off my fingers in the kitchen and said I looked like a raccoon that won a dumpster lottery. She's not wrong, I probably did. But the tangy crust that forms on the chicken skin is basically free flavor that makes cheap meat taste like I actually know what I'm doing. So no, you're not the only one sleeping on this, but maybe we're both just broke cooks with weird priorities.

Licking brine off your fingers in front of your wife is a solid look, I've definitely done the same thing but with hot sauce and looked like a total gremlin lol.
