Had to decide between a bulk bag of rice or a fancy instant pot on my day off
I spent my Sunday morning stuck between making a huge batch of rice from scratch with that 25-pound bag I bought months ago or finally breaking out the instant pot my sister gave me (it's been in the box since Christmas, oops). Ended up going with the instant pot because I figured might as well learn something new, right? Set it to pressure cook a small amount of rice and honestly it came out fluffy and perfect in like 12 minutes flat, no stirring or watching. Now I'm wondering if I should return the bulk rice to Costco or just commit to being a instant pot rice person. Has anyone else had this struggle between old habits and new gadgets?
I did the exact same thing last year with a 20-pound jasmine rice bag from Costco, let it sit in my pantry for 6 months while I kept making rice on the stove. Once I finally opened my instant pot and tried it, I never went back. The fluffy texture and not having to watch it constantly won me over. I'd say keep the bulk rice if you can store it, because the instant pot does use more water than the stove method and you'll go through it faster. Plus having that backup bag feels like a safety net for when you don't feel like washing the pot lid right away.
