I finally stopped using those fancy clamps for wood glue ups

Honestly I used to bust out a whole set of those quick grip clamps that cost me like $60 total from the hardware store. Then I realized my grandpa just used a stack of heavy books and some twine from the barn. Switched over last month when I was building a bench and couldn't find my clamps. The books worked just as good and I didn't have to hunt for the release triggers. Anybody else ditch their expensive gear for something their old man used?

Well twine doesn't work great for even pressure since books already do the clamping.
