The $9 hand pump I bought in Portland outlasted my $140 electric one by 2 winters

Last January my electric inflator died for the third time in a parking lot, but the cheap bicycle pump I grabbed at a garage sale near Sellwood still works on my mattress, tires, and even the neighbor's pool toys, so why does everyone keep pushing battery powered gear when a basic lever and a few minutes does the job fine?

Yeah my buddy Dave had the same thing happen. His fancy rechargeable one crapped out at a campsite and he was stuck. The $8 bike pump from Walmart he had in his trunk saved the weekend. Now he just laughs when people talk about "smart" inflators.
