Heads up on the new coolant flush method for Volvo Penta diesels
I was servicing a Volvo Penta D6 and used the old guide for the coolant flush. The new way has a different order that nearly led to an overheat issue. What's the best way to get alerts when manuals change?

The 2022 Volvo Penta service bulletin had a silent update on the D6 coolant procedure... I found out the hard way too, almost overheated mine. What I do now is set a calendar reminder to check their online portal every quarter... those PDFs get revised without any fanfare. Subscribing to the marine mechanic subreddit helped... guys post changes there pretty fast. I also heard some techs use RSS feeds for the bulletin page, but I haven't tried that yet. Honestly, it's a bit of a scavenger hunt keeping up.

Silent updates make maintenance a nightmare.

Man that silent update thing is the worst. Nearly cooked my D6 last spring following the old bleeder valve sequence, temp spiked while idling after the flush. Now I screenshot the revision date every time I open a PDF, and I still miss stuff. Their whole update system feels like trying to catch smoke.
