Redid that 'distracted boyfriend' meme with my dogs and it hit different
I was scrolling through old photos last Tuesday and found a pic of my golden retriever staring at a squirrel while my other dog was trying to give him a toy. So I slapped the distracted boyfriend format on it, swapped the text to 'me ignoring my responsibilities for random hobbies,' and my buddy laughed so hard he snorted his coffee. It got like 40 likes in my group chat which is basically viral for me. Anyone else ever breathe life back into a dead format with their own pet pics?

Did you really breathe new life into it though, or is that format so played out that even dogs can't save it now? I mean, I've seen that meme recycled so many times with pets, kids, and random objects that my brain just scrolls past it without even registering what's happening. Not trying to trash your dog pic, they're great and all, but the format itself is kind of a dead horse at this point. Maybe your buddy snorting coffee was more about the timing and less about the actual meme.

Yo @grant.richard I feel that hard about the format being dead. I did the same thing with my cat last month, put the "distracted boyfriend" text on a pic of her staring at a moth while my other cat was rubbing on her. Honestly it only got like 5 likes from my brother but I still thought it was hilarious. The squirrel vs toy thing you described sounds way funnier than my moth situation though. And yeah I bet the snorting coffee moment was half timing and half your buddy just being caught off guard. But like, who cares if it's a dead format when it makes someone actually laugh that hard? That's a win in my book.
