Spent 2 hours remixing a meme template and forgot the punchline

I grabbed this old distracted boyfriend meme and spent forever tweaking the angles and text placement. Thought I had a killer joke about my dog ignoring me for a neighbor with bacon. After I finished the whole edit, I realized I left the third panel completely blank. No punchline, just a confused guy staring at a sidewalk. Took me another 45 minutes to force something funny that barely landed. Has anyone else poured time into a remix only to mess up the basic setup?

Honestly that's such a classic editing trap. Tbh you probably got so caught up in the technical stuff that the joke just slipped your mind. Ngl I've done similar things where I spent more time on the font and border than the actual joke. The blank third panel thing is rough though. Next time maybe try writing the punchline on a sticky note before you even open your editing software. That way the funniest part is already locked in.

Oh yeah, the sticky note trick is solid. I once spent three hours perfecting the "Impact font and a subtle drop shadow" on a meme only to realize the punchline was just "me when I forget the punchline." The blank third panel is like the comedy version of a cliffhanger nobody asked for. At least you didn't accidentally leave the "Lorem Ipsum" placeholder in there like I did one time, that was a fun discovery three months later.
