Took me 6 months to realize movie props aren't sold on eBay like I thought

I spent half a year refreshing eBay daily for a screen-used prop from The Matrix and got nothing but knockoffs. Turns out you gotta go to specialty auctions like Prop Store or Profiles in History where the real stuff shows up. Has anyone else wasted this long chasing the wrong source?

Read a piece in Collectors Weekly that said 90% of claimed "screen used" props on eBay are fakes made in garages. Your time is better spent at the real auction houses like you mentioned.

Read that same article actually, garage fakes make up most of the listings on eBay.
