Overheard someone say they never clean their ceiling fan blades...

I was at a hardware store last week and heard a woman telling her friend she's never once wiped her ceiling fan blades in 10 years. That got me thinking about all the dust that flies around every time you turn the fan on at night. I finally checked mine last night and used an old pillowcase to catch the dust. You just slide the pillowcase over each blade and pull it off. The dust stays inside and you throw the whole thing in the wash. Has anyone else tried this trick or got a better method for late night cleaning sessions?

Wait, you use a pillowcase? That's genius. I've been doing the whole stretch-and-sneeze routine for years like a fool. I finally got tired of dust raining down on my bed last week and tried something similar with an old t-shirt. Just slid it over each blade and pulled it tight, then shook the dust into the trash outside. The t-shirt went straight in the wash after, and my fan blades are finally clean for the first time in maybe two years. I'll definitely be stealing your pillowcase trick next time, that sounds way easier than what I did.

Wait, two years? You let them go two years without cleaning? I'm not judging or anything, but that's wild to me. I can barely go two months before the dust is thick enough to write your name in it. But hey, at least you got it done, and honestly the t-shirt idea is smart too. I've just been using a wet paper towel like a caveman and getting dust all over the floor. That pillowcase trick is definitely the move next time though, gonna save me a lot of sneezing.
