Why does nobody talk about how quiet 3am actually is?

It's probably just me but I was up last night around 3:15am and I went outside to grab something from my car in the driveway. I live in a pretty standard suburban neighborhood near a main road but at that hour there was zero traffic, no wind, no dogs barking. Even the street light was buzzing quieter than normal. I stood there for like 2 solid minutes just listening and it felt weirdly peaceful but also kind of creepy. Has anyone else noticed that there's a specific quiet that only hits at that time or was it just a fluke with the weather?

That quiet at 3am is something I've noticed too. It's like the whole world takes a collective breath and holds it for a little while. I remember being up with my cat a few weeks ago around that time and the silence was so deep it almost felt like my ears were ringing. Definitely not just a weather thing, it's a real thing that happens that time of night.

@norag55 that's exactly what I'm talking about. The ears ringing thing is real, I get that too. It's like the silence gets so deep your brain starts making its own noise to fill the gap. Almost like the world is holding its breath and you're the only one awake to notice.
