Am I the only one who thinks Ocarina of Time is overrated?
I got into it with a guy at a retro game swap in Cleveland a couple years back. He was going on about how it's the perfect game and nothing comes close. I told him I think Majora's Mask has way more heart and better side quests. He looked at me like I just kicked his dog. We talked for 20 minutes and he couldn't name one thing Ocarina does better besides the dungeons being simpler. Has anyone else had that argument where people treat it like sacred ground you can't question?

People treat Ocarina like it's the only good game that ever came out. Majora's Mask took bigger risks and told a way more interesting story. The three day cycle gave everything real weight, not just waiting for Zelda to finish her cutscene. Ocarina's dungeons are cleaner sure, but that doesn't make them better. Sometimes simpler just means safer. Nostalgia goggles are strong with that one.

And yeah @jake_hall88 you're hitting the nail on the head about the cycle thing. What worked for me was just asking the other guy to list 3 things Ocarina does that no other Zelda does better. He couldn't do it without bringing up controls and camera stuff that's been standard since then. Once you take off the nostalgia goggles it's a great game but not the untouchable masterpiece people act like it is.
