Serious question, blurry action shot or weird face close up?

I was trying to get a nice photo of my dog Charlie at the park last Saturday. I had to pick between catching him mid-run so he looks like a blurry cryptid, or getting a super close up where his tongue is hanging out and his eyes are half closed. I went with the action shot because it felt funnier, but he just looks like a brown smudge with legs. Has anyone else had to make this call and which way did you go?

Totally feel you on this one. I had the same choice with my cat the other day and I went with the blurry action shot too. He was chasing a laser pointer and I thought I got this epic leap but it just looks like a gray blob with a tail sticking out. I mean both options are basically a coin flip between looking like a mess or looking like a disaster. The weird face close up might actually capture more personality though, like my cat's goofy tongue out eyes half shut thing is basically his brand at this point. Maybe try both next time and see which one makes you laugh harder, that's my rule now.

Haha @michael895 you're right, it's basically choosing between a blurry mess and a weird closeup. I swear my cat's goofy face captures his true essence better than any action shot ever could, like he's permanently mid-sneeze or something. Next time I'm just going with the one that makes me snort laugh, even if it looks like a potato.
