inJust realized my 'emergency' $60 jump pack has been dead in my trunk for 4 months
Man, isn't that always the way though? We buy all this fancy gear and the simplest little thing is what gets us every time. It's like how people panic when their car won't start, but it's just because they left the interior light on all night. We just expect things to work without actually reading the manual or checking the basics first. Maybe that's just the world we live in now, everything is supposed to be so smart that we forget to do the dumb simple stuff, right? Bet it fired right up after you figured that out though.

inCan we talk about the 20 minute alarm problem?
That 26 minute mark makes so much sense, I've woken up angry from naps before too and it's the worst feeling.

inUsed a kitchen knife to pry open paint cans for a year
My old paring knife still has a bent tip from trying to pry open a stubborn gallon of Behr paint three years ago. The 5-in-1 tool cost me less than my last trip to Dairy Queen and honestly works ten times better. I guess I'm just the kind of person who has to bleed on something before admitting there's a simpler way to do it.

inAccidentally became a mushroom forager after one wrong hike last fall
Chicken of the woods is what got me hooked too. Found it on a log behind my sister's cabin in the Smokies three years ago and thought I'd stumbled onto some kind of forest treasure. That first taste blew my mind. Now I've got a whole shelf of field guides and my wife jokes that I walk staring at the ground like I lost a contact lens. I say it's just smart living.

inHit 500 hours of self-study before realizing most of it was wasted
Flip your whole thinking around... instead of asking what program or mentor to buy, try just starting a tiny project tonight that scares you the least. Pick something so small you can finish it in one sitting, that way you break the cycle of just watching and start building your confidence muscle instead.
