That '80s show remake had no business being that good

I rolled my eyes so hard when they announced a reboot of that old sitcom from 1987. But after catching three episodes on a rainy Saturday in Portland, I was hooked. The new cast actually has chemistry and the jokes don't feel forced like most revivals. Anyone else get blindsided by a remake they thought would bomb?

Did your friend's dad actually admit he was wrong about it? My buddy Mike was the same way. He talked so much trash about the 80s remake that his girlfriend bet him dinner he'd like it. He watched the first episode just to prove her wrong and ended up binging the whole season that night. Now he owns the DVD box set and won't shut up about it.

That story about your buddy Mike is pretty much what happened with my friend's dad. He finally admitted he was wrong after he watched the first two episodes with us one night. I read somewhere that the new showrunners actually took notes from the original creator, so it's not just a random remake. My friend's dad said the writing felt more natural and the characters actually had depth, which surprised him. Now he's the one recommending it to everyone at work and even bought the Bluray set. It's funny how stubborn people can be about stuff they haven't even tried yet.
