My cherry tomato plant finally turned red after 47 days of waiting

Woke up this morning and there it was, one perfect little orb on my balcony in Portland, I nearly cried over a single tomato.

Dude I legit checked my plant every morning like it was a newborn baby and got so worked up when the first one finally turned. Told my wife I was gonna name it and have a little ceremony. She said I had a problem. Then I ate it in like two seconds and felt empty inside. 47 days for about 10 seconds of joy. Gardening is basically a slow motion heartbreak with occasional bursts of pride. But congrats on your one perfect orb, I get it.

Wait, you're mad that you spent 47 days getting exactly what you wanted out of it? That sounds like a win to me, not heartbreak. @dylanward, the plant gave you a perfect moment and you ate it, that's the whole point of growing your own food instead of buying it from a store. A little ceremony for a homegrown strawberry is just admitting you put in work for something good, and that's way better than the empty feeling of eating a bland grocery store one in two seconds.
