We got stuck on a puzzle in Overcooked for 45 minutes because my friend kept putting the wrong ingredient on the plate.

Talking to my dad about the old bucket dredges made me miss the feel of it

Honestly, I was over at my dad's place last weekend and he was looking at some old photos from when he ran a bucket line dredge up in Alaska. He pointed at one and said, 'You know, we could hear every link in that chain, feel every rock in the bucket. You knew the river by sound.' Tbh, it hit me hard because I've been on a modern suction dredge for five years now. I sit in a climate-controlled cab watching screens. It's efficient, sure, and we move way more material. But I don't feel the mud or hear the machine working anymore. It's just numbers and gauges. Made me wonder if we lost something by getting so far from the actual grind. Has anyone else who started on the old gear ever feel a bit disconnected now?

Shoutout to the old guy who showed me a better way to tie a running bowline

Last week I was working on a big oak removal in Charlotte and my usual knot slipped a bit when I was lowering a limb. An older climber on the crew saw me fussing with it and just said 'try it like this' and showed me his way to dress the knot. I've been doing it his way all week and it's been way more solid every time. Anyone else have a small knot trick that made a big difference?

Hot take: I spent 3 hours on a simple quarter crack patch that should have taken 30 minutes

It was on a draft horse with a wide, flat foot. The crack looked clean, so I prepped it and set my acrylic patch. The problem was the hoof wall kept flexing just enough to break the bond every time I tried to shape it. I ended up having to use a different adhesive and clamp it with a modified shoe for over an hour to get it to finally hold. Has anyone else had acrylic not set right on a really flexible hoof?

Just lost a whole case of lemons to a bad cooler seal

It was a full 40-pound case, about $60 down the drain. The gasket on my lowboy looked fine, but it wasn't sealing right and I didn't catch the temp creep. Anyone have a good brand for replacement seals they trust?

Am I the only one who sees people mixing chemical peels wrong?

I keep seeing videos and even hearing from other pros about mixing different acid peels together, like a glycolic with a salicylic, to make a 'custom blend' for a client. This makes me nervous. In my training at the Arizona Academy, they drilled into us that you NEVER mix acids unless the formula is made that way from the lab. The pH levels can shift and become unstable, which can lead to a burn or a bad reaction. I had a client come to me last year after someone else tried this, and her skin was red and peeling for over a week. It wasn't a controlled peel anymore, it was damage. On one side, people say they're just being creative and tailoring treatments. On the other, I think it's playing with fire and goes against basic chemistry. What's your take? Have you seen this happen in your own practice?
