My buddy swore old CRT monitors are better for retro gaming and I finally caved last weekend

I've been using a flat screen with my SNES for years and thought it looked fine. But my friend Mike kept insisting I try his 20 inch Sony Trinitron from 1998. I borrowed it on Saturday and hooked it up with composite cables. The difference in how Super Metroid looks is wild - the scanlines smooth everything out and the colors pop way more. I spent like 3 hours just playing through old levels I've beaten a dozen times. Has anyone else made the switch and regretted it or am I stuck hauling this 50 pound tube around forever?

Man I was in the EXACT same boat last year. Had my SNES hooked up to a cheap LCD for like five years and thought it was fine. Then a buddy let me borrow his old Toshiba and booted up Super Mario World. The pixels actually looked like pixels instead of a blurry mess. I ended up buying my own Trinitron off Facebook Marketplace for like 20 bucks. Yeah it weighs a TON and my back hates me but the difference in games like Mega Man X is night and day. No way I'm going back now.

Twenty bucks for a Trinitron is a steal, @xena_rivera63. I grabbed mine for $15 at a yard sale and my wife thought I was nuts hauling a 70 pound TV into the living room. Popped in Donkey Kong Country and instantly saw those jungle backgrounds pop like they were supposed to. Yeah, the scanlines on Mega Man X are perfect, you don't get that smooth motion blur on modern screens.
