My grandpa's old transistor radio still pulls in stations better than my phone app
Last week I was digging through some boxes in my basement and found this old GE transistor radio my grandpa gave me back in 2012. It's this chunky beige thing with a cracked antenna and the tuning knob is kinda sticky. I threw some fresh batteries in it just for kicks and started messing with the dial. To my surprise it picked up this local AM station from like 60 miles away crystal clear while my phone app kept buffering and cutting out. I sat there for a good hour just listening to a baseball game on it. Made me wonder if all that digital processing actually makes things worse for simple stuff like radio. Anyone else have an old radio or something that still outperforms modern gear?

Oh man, that reminds me of my dad's old cb radio from the 70s. Thing still picks up truckers talking from states away while my modern handheld just sits there static.
