Overheard a guy at the thrift store call a CRT monitor "e-waste garbage" and I almost lost it
I was digging through a pile of old keyboards, not even looking for anything special, when some dude walks by with his friend and points at this huge Sony Trinitron sitting on the floor. He says "who even uses those anymore, it's just e-waste garbage" and laughs. That monitor had that perfect curved glass and I bet it still had that deep black level no modern screen can touch. I grabbed it for $10 and it fired right up in my garage. Anybody else still rocking a CRT for retro gaming or am I the only one left?

$10 for a Trinitron is a good deal, I'll give you that. But lets be real, that guy was just making conversation. Getting worked up over someone calling an old monitor old seems like a lot of effort.

and look, I'm a graphic designer by day, so I know old monitors. but I also know that my back hurts when I carry one, and my arms look like I just tried to bench press a small car. honestly, if someone called my Trinitron old, I'd probably just nod and say "yep, and it still makes my vintage Photoshop filters look better than your newfangled OLED." but maybe that's just me projecting my own back problems onto the conversation.
