Old timer at the hardware store told me to use plain dish soap on my roof tiles...
He said it'd clean them without stripping the coating, and I figured he knew his stuff since he's been doing this longer than I've been alive. Well, three months later half my southern exposure tiles are faded and I'm looking at a $1,200 re-coat job... anyone else get bad advice from a supposed pro that backfired hard?
Did the old timer actually specify which coating was on there, or was he just assuming all roof coatings are the same? Sounds like he might have been thinking of a specific sealer that doesn't mind dish soap.
